The main applications of industrial optical fiber in wind power generation systems include power electronic gate drives for rectifiers and inverters, control and communication circuit boards, wind turbine control units, condition monitoring systems, and wind farm networking.
Wind turbine power generation
Wind turbines use generators to convert kinetic energy into electric energy. As wind conditions change, the electricity generated by the generators must be converted before they can be used. Wind turbines must have rectifiers, inverters, transformers and filters. Wait for the equipment so that the generated practical AC power can be transmitted over a long distance, as shown in the figure below.
Transformer equipment is usually installed at the bottom of the wind power tower to convert the low voltage generated by the wind turbine into a medium to high voltage that is convenient for transmission.
